Singer-songwriter Ruth B. has announced her third studio album, Peace To Make, set for release on Aug. 21. Alongside the announcement, she unveiled the album’s latest single, “Didn’t I.”
The new track explores the aftermath of a failing relationship, capturing the frustration and heartbreak of loving someone beyond reason and realizing that love alone cannot save what was never meant to last.
Peace To Make marks Ruth B.’s most personal project to date. Co-produced with six-time Grammy Award winner Cole M.G.N., whose credits include work with Beck, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Christine and the Queens, the album follows a path through heartbreak, healing, and self-discovery.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind “Didn’t I,” Ruth said the song emerged organically while spending time with friends rather than during a formal writing session.
“It was a different writing experience,” she said. “I kept repeating ‘Didn’t I’ a million times over, just hanging out and having a few drinks. It’s about reflecting on a past relationship and being like, ‘I kind of told you’ that your actions were going to lead to this, a little tongue-in-cheek. It’s a fun one.”
The 12-track album includes “Bad Combination,” “Best Days,” “Peace To Make,” “Didn’t I,” “Jealous,” “Love’s Vulnerable,” “Breathe,” “Not You Not Golden,” “Who’s Gonna Love You,” “Should’ve Been Us,” “No Boundaries,” and “Pick Me.”
