Sherri Shepherd is stepping into the world of children’s literature. The actress, comedian, television host, podcaster, and New York Times bestselling author announced her first children’s book, The Sunshine Queens (ISBN: 9781400252732), set for release on Oct. 7, 2025.
Shepherd shared the news during a live segment of her nationally syndicated talk show, Sherri, which recently returned for its fourth season.
The book follows four friends — Chloe, Jade, Zara, and Alejandra — as they navigate challenges and discover the importance of supporting one another. Shepherd said the story is inspired by the close friendships that have shaped her own life.
“I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my friends,” Shepherd said. “I hope The Sunshine Queens helps girls learn to develop those same strong friendships that will last them through life, and I hope they will see what they can accomplish together.”
Illustrated by Tanisha Cherislin, the book features playful moments with a puppy named Honey, emphasizing lessons in teamwork and cooperation. Designed for parents, caregivers, and educators, The Sunshine Queens aims to teach children the value of encouragement, connection, and standing by one another.
With this new venture, Shepherd continues her work in spreading positive messages and life lessons beyond her talk show and comedy, bringing those lessons directly to young readers.
