Dream Above the Influence, a nonprofit founded by critically acclaimed actress/filmmaker Gail Bean (Snowfall, Harlem, and P-Valley), will host its annual winter giveback, PROJECT404.
On Saturday, October 18, the event will offer new winter essentials to 404 local youth, including coats, shoes, sweat apparel, socks, and more.
The event will take place at Tobie Grant Recreation Center, 593 Parkdale Drive, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Children must be present to receive items. The giveaway is open to youth ages 0 to 18.
“Winter is the hardest season for many in our community,” the organization said. “Through PROJECT404, we aim to spread warmth and relieve stress for families in need.”
In an exclusive, Gail Bean expounded on the event’s purpose, “The purpose of doing this is because the winter season expenses rise for families and they are having to choose between properly equipping their children and feeding them, and paying their bills. We just want to relieve some financial stress on the parents…”
Donations of any size are welcome. Supporters can contribute online via the nonprofit’s website or contact @teante23_ via Instagram for in-kind donations.
Dream Above The Influence’s mission reflects Bean’s personal experiences with mentorship and community support. She emphasizes the importance of affirming individuality and promoting dreams that transcend local influences.
