Steph Curry Explodes For 50, Warriors Advance

Win, or go home.

Earlier today, the Sacramento Kings faced off against the Golden State Warriors in a critical must-win to advance to the Western Conference Semifinals. All season long, the Kings and COTY, Mike Brown, had been one of the favorites to win it all, as they made a historic run throughout the regular season. What we lowkey expected, but didn’t quite see coming, was Steph Curry’s historic night.

Curry made basketball magic, dropping a playoff career-high 50 points, to lead the Warriors to a Game 7 win. Breaking Kevin Durant’s previous record in 2021, Curry, went 20 for 38 from the field including 7 shots from the three-point line. His performance also made him the FIRST Warriors player to surpass 40 points in a critical Game 7.

Initially, the Kings looked like they were positioned to win it on their home turf, as their bench went 3-for-7 from the arc, and had zero turnovers. By the end of the first quarter, the score was tied, 25-25, after Terence Davis hit two 3-pointers. The first half, for the Warriors, was rough, with Klay Thompson nearly non-existent with his 7 points.

It wasn’t until the third quarter that the Warriors went into overdrive. Taking the lead in the third, after Curry’s deep three-pointer, the Warriors made a 13-4 run and snatched the lead from the Kings. Sacramento’s defense could not cool Curry down. Even Kings’ “Clutch Player of the Year,” De’Aaron Fox ended with just 16 points. Sabonis led with 22 points, after suffering a black eye and broken thumb.

Sadly, for Kings fans, no beams were lit as the Warriors stole game 7 and now move on to face LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Semifinals.
