Stewart Mocks Trump on Reflecting Pool and Iran

NEW YORK (AP) — Jon Stewart criticized President Donald Trump on Monday’s episode of “The Daily Show,” arguing that Trump has a habit of fixing things that were not broken.

Stewart first targeted a $1.7 million renovation of the Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C. He joked that the pool quickly changed from “American Flag Blue” to “Mountain Dew green” after the work was completed.

The comedian then turned to Trump’s approach to Iran. Stewart said the administration talked tough about destroying Iran’s nuclear program but ultimately ended up pursuing a deal that allowed Iran to keep key parts of it.

Stewart also mocked Vice President JD Vance’s role in the negotiations, airing clips of Vance discussing diplomacy and peace efforts. He paired those moments with footage of awkward interactions between Vance and foreign leaders.

Throughout the segment, the comedian/political commentator argued that the administration’s final position on Iran looked similar to policies Trump had previously criticized under former President Barack Obama.

Using both the Reflecting Pool project and Iran negotiations as examples, Stewart’s central argument was that Trump often creates disruption while claiming to solve problems.
