The popular Black classic movie franchise; The Best Man, will be crossing lanes to television series through NBC Universal’s newest streaming service Peacock. The Best Man: The Final Chapters, is scheduled for a limited ten-episode dramedy series with the original writer and director Malcolm D. Lee joining forces with Dayna Lynne North; executive producer of Issa Rae’s original series Insecure.

The original cast reuniting for the upcoming series includes Morris Chestnut, Melissa De Sousa, Taye Diggs, Regina Hall, Terrence Howard, Sanaa Lathan, Nia Long, and Harold Perrineau. Due to her character’s passing in the sequel, Monica Calhoun will be the only original Best Man cast member not involved.

Continuing where the movie left off, the series will follow the lives of fan favorites: Harper, Robyn, Jordan, Lance, Quentin, Shelby, Candace, and Murch as they navigate through surprising stages of midlife crisis while continuing with past relationships.

After continuing with the success of The Best Man Franchise, Lee produced and directed both box-office hits: Girls Trip and Night school both featuring comedic actress Tiffany Haddish. From there he signed a first-look deal with Universal TV in 2018 which led to the announcement of today.

“We’re excited to reunite this beloved cast for a limited series run of The Best Man for Peacock,” said Susan Rovner, Chairman, Entertainment Content, NBCUniversal Television, and Streaming. “With a powerhouse duo like Malcolm and Dayna at the helm, fans will fall in love with our favorite group of friends all over again.”

No further information has been released about a release date, but a quick trip to Peacock gives you both movies to help jog your memory while fans await the film they loved.
