Jamaican-born artist Tina, formerly known as HoodCelebrityy, has released her self-titled debut album, marking a new phase in a career that has blended dancehall, reggae, and contemporary R&B influences.
The 16-track “Tina” features appearances from Lycinaïs Jean, Shatta Wale, and Stonebwoy and follows her earlier project, “Tina vs. Hoodcelebrityy.” The album arrives as the singer moves away from the HoodCelebrityy stage name and begins performing and recording full-time as Tina.
The change is reflected in the album’s musical direction. On “Peace of Mind,” featuring Ghanaian artist Stonebwoy, Tina takes a more vulnerable approach, addressing personal growth and the emotional weight of overcoming difficult experiences.
Other songs maintain stronger ties to the dancehall sound that helped establish her career. Tracks including “Pepsi,” “Round the World,” and “Malfunction,” featuring Ne-Yo, lean into rhythmic, club-oriented production while broadening the range of the record.
The album also includes “Walking Trophy,” Tina’s breakout single and one of her best-known songs. The track became a crossover success, reaching the top 15 at Urban Radio and No. 23 at Rhythmic Radio. Its inclusion connects the singer’s HoodCelebrityy era with the new identity she is introducing on the album.
Tina began the album rollout with a series of appearances in New York and Jamaica. Earlier this month, she was the only female artist to perform at the inaugural Jamaican Day Parade. She also discussed the project in interviews with New York radio station Power 105.1 and Jamaica’s “Daytime Live.”
The release represents more than a name change for the artist, who is positioning the album as an introduction to a fuller version of herself. While “Tina” retains the dancehall energy associated with her earlier work, the project also makes room for more introspective songwriting and collaborations spanning the Caribbean and African music scenes.
With the self-titled album, Tina is seeking to carry the recognition built under HoodCelebrityy into the next stage of her career while expanding the sound and identity behind the name.
