The Women’s Media Group will honor the life and contributions of literary pioneer Marie Dutton Brown during a panel discussion Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Red Rooster Harlem in New York City.
The event, titled “The Marie Dutton Brown Legacy Series: Stories She Championed,” will celebrate Brown’s influence on publishing, storytelling, and the advancement of voices in literature. The discussion will bring together publishing professionals and authors to reflect on her legacy and the importance of representation in the literary industry.
Abby West, vice president and editorial director of Amistad/HarperCollins, will moderate the discussion. The panel will feature award-winning writer and editorial consultant Christine Pride; Anita Kopacz, a former magazine executive and award-winning author; and Malaika Adero, founder of Adero’s Literary Tribe.
Together, the panelists will explore themes related to storytelling, publishing, and the role of literary advocates in creating opportunities for writers whose voices have historically been underrepresented.
Brown built a career championing authors and helping bring their stories to readers. The legacy series recognizes her commitment to expanding opportunities within publishing and preserving the influence of those who helped shape the industry.
The event will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. at Red Rooster Harlem, 310 Lenox Ave., in Manhattan.
Tickets are $100 for Women’s Media Group members and $125 for nonmembers. Registration is available at womensmediagroup.org.
