The Racine Belles claimed the 2025 All-American Women’s Baseball Classic championship Sunday with an 8-7 win over the South Bend Blue Sox at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The three-day event brought together four teams — the Belles, Kenosha Comets, Rockford Peaches, and South Bend Blue Sox — each named after original teams from the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.
The tournament, organized by USA Baseball and American Girls Baseball, featured players ranging from teenagers to national team veterans. Over the weekend, the event celebrated women’s baseball history and spotlighted emerging talent.
Championship Recap
Kenosha Comets 10, Rockford Peaches 4
The Comets opened Sunday with a strong start, scoring twice in the first and building a 7-1 lead by the fourth. Micaela Minner and Addisyn Baird contributed key RBIs. The Peaches cut the lead to three runs but could not recover before the five-inning time limit.
Racine Belles 8, South Bend Blue Sox 7
In the final, South Bend took an early lead, including a two-run triple from Adelaide Frank. The Belles responded in the fourth with a six-run outburst, capped by a two-run double from Mia Kruspe and several miscues from the Blue Sox. South Bend rallied late, but Racine held on to secure the title.
“The All-American Women’s Baseball Classic was better than I could’ve imagined. It being my first year, I didn’t know what to expect, and everything they had for us went beyond my expectations. I got to meet amazing women of all ages and share in the love of baseball,” says Mia Kruspe of The Racine Belles. “The facilities, relationships, and knowledge I accessed provided insight into the past and gave me a glimpse of the future for women in baseball.”
Tournament Notes
South Bend began the weekend with a 9-4 win over Rockford. Isabella Villareal and McKenna Huff led a five-run sixth inning, securing the Blue Sox’s place in the final.
The event served as a platform for talent identification and as a tribute to the legacy of the AAGPBL. It also marked a lead-up to the formation of the Women’s Professional Baseball League, set to launch in 2026.
The All-American Women’s Baseball Classic will return to Durham next summer.
