Rising hip-hop artist Sol ChYld announced Friday her new album, REBIRTH. Theory, will be released Sept. 26 through MNRK Music Group, alongside the release of her new single “Travel Size.”
The Camden native’s track is a collaboration with Chicago rapper and organizer Kaicrewsade. It blends live jazz arrangements with sharp lyricism and arrives with a new video directed by longtime collaborator Wayne Campbell.
The 10-track album features guest appearances from DRAM, Kaicrewsade, Kingsley Ibeneche, and Eric Scott. Sol ChYld recorded the project without samples, highlighting her focus on original instrumentation and curation.
She has drawn comparisons to Kendrick Lamar on the Dissect Podcast, and her latest work continues in the lineage of artists such as Erykah Badu, André 3000, and Lauryn Hill.
