ASCAP Honors Kehlani, Kali Uchis and EJAE at Women Behind the Music Event

ASCAP held its 17th ASCAP Women Behind the Music event at The Fleur Room, honoring Kehlani, Kali Uchis, and EJAE for their work and leadership in the industry.

The program, presented by the ASCAP Membership team, highlights women in roles across songwriting, performance, and executive leadership. Nicole George-Middleton, ASCAP’s executive vice president and head of Creative Membership, presented each artist with a plaque.

“ASCAP Women Behind the Music is more than an annual event for us. We not only spotlight women for their impactful contributions to the music community, we also hope to inspire the next generation of young women to use their artistry, leadership, and boldness to navigate challenges they may face in the industry,” George-Middleton said.

She noted EJAE’s work on the single “Golden” from Netflix’s K-Pop Demon Hunters, Uchis’s inclusion in the Spotify Billions Club, and Kehlani’s RIAA certifications and Grammy nominations.

DJ C. Devone provided music during a reception following the program.

Past honorees include Coco Jones, Kandi Burruss, Kelly Rowland, Victoria Monét, Joelle James, Salt-N-Pepa, Summer Walker, Jazmine Sullivan, Sheila E., Nova Wav, and a range of executives.
