Primate Featurette Highlights Killer Chimp’s Transformation

A new behind-the-scenes featurette for Primate offers a closer look at the horror film, opening in theaters on January 9, 2026. Paramount Pictures released the video ahead of the film’s wide release, spotlighting the story’s central threat and the production work that brings it to life.

Primate is directed by Johannes Roberts, who co-wrote the screenplay with Ernest Riera. The film follows a tropical getaway that collapses into chaos when a family’s pet chimpanzee becomes violent after being bitten by a rabid animal, turning what was meant to be a leisurely trip into “a terrifying, primal tale of horror and survival.”

The newly released featurette focuses on Ben, the chimp whose transformation from beloved family member to dangerous force drives the film’s terror. In interview clips, cast members describe Ben’s evolution on screen.

Primate premiered at Fantastic Fest in September 2025 and has drawn attention for its visceral take on the animal-attack subgenre.

The film stars Johnny Sequoyah, Jessica Alexander, Troy Kotsur, and others and is distributed by Paramount Pictures. Its theatrical release is scheduled for early January 2026.
