Timbaland Reignites Feud With Indie Rapper Rian Wyld as AI Dispute Escalates

Music producer Timbaland has reignited his public feud with independent rapper Rian Wyld, renewing a dispute centered on artificial intelligence, artist rights, and the future of music creation.

According to Wyld, the producer returned to the comments section of one of her videos, prompting her to accuse him of “crashing out” again and renewing their months-long public dispute.

The conflict began earlier in 2025 after Timbaland promoted AI music tools, drawing criticism from artists who argued the technology could undermine human creators. Wyld emerged as one of his most vocal critics, alleging that AI companies were building products using the work of musicians without proper consent or compensation.

Timbaland surprisingly responded by posting negative commentary on multiple posts on her accounts across social media.

Wyld has since released music, including singles “Poppin'” and “Comments,” and social media posts aimed directly at Timbaland, accusing him of prioritizing artificial intelligence over artists. She has maintained that her criticism is rooted in concerns about independent musicians losing opportunities as AI becomes more prevalent throughout the industry.

In an interview published last year, Wyld said she did not regret challenging the Grammy-winning producer publicly. She argued the disagreement belonged in the public sphere because it originated from public statements about AI and the music business. She also said she intended to continue speaking out against practices she believes exploit artists.

The renewed exchange comes as debate continues across the music industry over how artificial intelligence should be used in songwriting, production, and artist development. Supporters argue AI can serve as a creative tool, while critics warn that unregulated use of copyrighted material and synthetic performers could diminish opportunities for human artists and musicians.

Neither Timbaland nor Wyld has indicated that the dispute is nearing a resolution, and both have continued to defend their positions as the discussion over AI’s role in music shows little sign of slowing.
