Legendary rapper Busta Rhymes received a well-deserved lifetime achievement award during last night’s BET Awards 2023.

The artist, whose career spans since 1986, found himself brought to tears at the start of his acceptance speech.

“So, I’m gonna wear it on my sleeve. I do wanna cry,”said the emotional hip-hop star, after being greeted with a long resounding applause.

Widely considered the genre’s liveliest entertainer, Busta has a long list of iconic songs including “Woo-Hah!! Got You All in Check”, “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See”, “Gimme Some More”, “What’s It Gonna Be?”, “Pass the Courvoisier, Part II”, and “Touch It”.

“Busta Rhymes is a multifaceted award-winning artist who has mesmerized audiences for decades with his original hip hop sound and one-of-a-kind visuals. He continues to leave an indelible mark on the culture that we hold dear, and it is with great pride that we present this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award to a visionary, a master of rhyme, and a true pioneer. His unwavering commitment to pushing boundaries, unapologetically expressing his art, and empowering generations of artists is a testament to his unparalleled legacy,” said Scott Mills, CEO of BET.
