Cameron Boyce, star of the hit Disney Channel television series “Jessie,” has reportedly passed away.

His family confirmed the news with a statement on Sunday morning, “It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron. He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated. The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him.”

Boyce was born on May 28, 1999, to an African-American father and Jewish mother, Victor and Libby Boyce. His paternal grandmother is Jo Ann Boyce, who was one of the “Clinton Twelve,” the first African-Americans to attend an integrated school in the south.

Aside from his Disney Channel projects, such as the “Descendants” franchise, Boyce was widely known for his role as Adam Sandler’s younger son in the comedy “Grown Ups” and its sequel “Grown Ups 2.”

Sandler took to Instagram to pay tribute to the young star upon hearing the news of his passing. In the post, he stated, “Too young. Too sweet. Too funny. Just the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around. Loved that kid. Cared so much about his family. Cared so much about the world. Thank you, Cameron, for all you gave to us. So much more was on the way. All our hearts are broken.”

Amongst Sandler was Skai Jackson, whom the young star acted and grew up with on “Jessie,” who also paid tribute to Boyce via Instagram.

“I don’t even know where to start… I am at a loss for words. I never thought in a million years I would be writing this. Cam, you were one of a kind. My heart will be forever broken. I am so happy that I got to spend almost every day with you on set, you gave the best hugs. I wish I would have hugged you tighter when I saw you a couple of months ago.”

Jackson then continued to post countless pictures of the two behind the scenes on the set of the show. Other co-stars such as Peyton List have also shared their condolences and sadness over Boyce’s death.

As a known activist, Boyce had raised $30,000 to build wells for clean water in Swaziland. For his contribution, he was awarded the Pioneering Spirit Award last year at the Thirst Gala, which was sponsored by the nonprofit organization, the Thirst Project.

Before his sudden passing, Cameron Boyce had finished filming “Descendants 3,” which is due to premiere on August 2.
