Book publicist and literary agent Dawn Michelle Hardy launches Book Banter TV – a 30-minute interactive streaming show that highlights authors and their books. In 2017, the publishing entrepreneur began interviewing novelists and publishing colleagues on her Instagram stories to stay connected with family and friends after relocating from New York to North Carolina.
Her Book Banter interview series was her way of helping authors promote their books and aspiring writers gain valuable insight into the publishing process. June 8th Hardy is expanding the concept across multiple social platforms with the premiere of Book Banter TV.
Viewers can tune in to Hardy’s page on Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube to catch the first episode. The show’s special guests will include bestselling authors Miasha (Secret Society) and Tiffany L. Warren (Favorite Son). These black women creatives are just two in an impressive lineup of African American authors who have played a significant role in adapting their novels for the screen.
The show highlights their film adaptation journey and offers viewers the opportunity to comment and pose questions directly to the guest via an online chat.
“As a publicist, I have witnessed how challenging obtaining on-screen broadcast opportunities for indie and new authors has been, especially if the writer doesn’t have national name recognition. Book Banter TV will help amplify the voices of authors and showcase works of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and children’s books. I also know how important it is for readers to have this opportunity to connect with their favorite writers during a live chat” says Hardy.
Hardy is affectionately known as The Literary Lobbyist, a title that was given to her in a 2013 Ebony.com ‘Cool Jobs’ profile. She has been promoting authors and their books since she entered the publishing industry in 2002 as an assistant to New York Times Bestselling author Teri Woods (True to the Game).
As a bonus, Book Banter TV “Aftershow” will take place at 6:45 pm ET live on Instagram for a longer conversation with one guest. On June 8th the aftershow guest will be Founder of MegaMind Media, LLC and Executive Producer, Tressa ‘Azarel’ Smallwood. “In producing the show, I didn’t want to leave my Instagram community out experience. It’s important to take the long-form conversation back to Instagram where it all began,” says Hardy.
