Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Career-High, 55 Points, Leads Bucks to a Win

It’s been a wild start to the new year in the NBA but in a good way. Some of the League’s top players are showing up and showing out with career-high records. And the latest to do so is Giannis Antetokounmpo. Last night, against the Washington Wizards, Giannis led the Milwaukee Bucks to victory with a career-high of 55 points!

It was Giannis’ elite display of dunks and drives to the paint that helped snap the Wizards’ five-game winning streak. Along with the help of Brook Lopez, Bobby Portis, and Pat Connaughton, who were the only other Bucks players to hit double digits.

To add to his monstrous offensive performance, Giannis also grabbed ten rebounds and pitched in seven assists.

“I want to get in a position that my game is boring. I just do what I do and people don’t talk about it because it becomes boring. I do it every single night. That’s what I want to do. I want other people to feel like my game is boring. But I don’t get bored. The wreaths – the best players – never get bored. They go out there and they always give their best any given night.”

In the past three games, alone, Antetokounmpo has put up impressive numbers – collecting at least 40 points in each of the matchups. The only other NBA players, in the League’s history, who have three straight 40+ point performances are Elgin Baylor (1963), Wilt Chamberlain (1963), and Russell Westbrook (2016).

When asked about his teammate, Brook Lopez, had nothing but praise for Giannis.

“He’s just constantly improving. When you think where else can he go and how else can he improve, he improves again. We’re going to have to expand the English language in some way to come up with words to describe him.”

Heading into the match-up, Giannis’ previous career high was 52 points, which he reached back in 2019 against the Philadelphia 76ers.
