Joe Rogan is facing massive backlash after repeatedly spreading COVID-19 misinformation on his podcast which streams on Spotify.

Legendary rock star Neil Young demanded all his music be removed from the streaming platform until the company takes action to prevent dangerous lies from being spread on its service.

However, India Arie’s protest has little to do with the pandemic, but Rogan’s playing down what it means to be Black in America.

“Unless you’re talking to someone who is like 100% African, from the darkest place, where they’re not wearing any clothes all day, and they’ve developed all that melanin to protect themselves from the sun, you know, even the term ‘Black’ is weird.”

According to the soul singer, she found his language around race “problematic”.

She also called out the company’s lack of respect for artists, comparing Rogan’s rumored $100 million dollar deal to the fraction of a penny artists receive per stream.

In other news, India Arie will host a virtual event titled “SongVersation With India and Friends” on Friday, March 26, 2021, at 7 p.m. CST.

This event will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of her debut album Acoustic Soul, and a successful two-decade career in the music industry.
