Author/entrepreneur Micaela Thomas has found immense success after overcoming depression and homelessness. Here she speaks on her book “Stripped to My Truth” and the power of manifestation.

Let’s start with your book, “Stripped to my Truth”. What was the inspiration for it?
Yes, the inspiration for Stripped to my Truth was honestly seeing others suffer in silence. I lost my own voice, quite a few times throughout my journey and not speaking my truth or being able to make enough noise to make a difference in helping myself is traumatizing in itself. Even more so, when you’re unsure of how to find your voice again. So I transitioned my diary into a book for others to use as a guide.

You have overcome so many profound challenges including depression and homelessness. Was it troubling to relive those experiences as you wrote your book?
Initially, yes. But it’s in those painful places I was able to reflect on how what hurt me, was able to help heal me. A shift in mindset makes all the difference. So looking back at those moments now, I am able to reflect and feel nothing but gratitude for how far I’ve come in my journey.

The practice of manifestation is one of the things you credit for your success. Can you explain what that means?
Absolutely! Manifestation has enabled me to identify the things that I relate to and care deeply for. It didn’t just create success, but it created self-awareness, discipline, and positive self-talk with the ability to build and cultivate self-efficacy. Basically, it forced me to hold myself accountable for the environments I placed myself in. It made me become more accountable for me!

What would you say has been the most important thing you learned about yourself as you faced the toughest times of your life?
The most important thing I learned about myself while facing some of the toughest times of my life….is that I am mentally stronger than what I ever believed myself to be. The people that tried to destroy me and the things that should’ve broken me, didn’t. My strength, among many of my other personal characteristics, has been the staple of my success and healing.

Beyond writing, you are also a successful entrepreneur with your cleaning company. Do you believe it’s important to have more than one revenue stream these days?
Most definitely! These days, it’s highly important to have the knowledge of financial literacy in general. Each stream of revenue should be able to cover each bill that you have. Eliminating the need to over-work and over-stress yourself with 2 and 3 jobs. Multiple streams of income is imperative!

“Stripped to my Truth” has been well received. Are there plans for a follow up book?
Yes! I’m so very grateful that “Stripped to my Truth” has been received the way it has been. I am actually currently working on a couple of follow up books. Something like a mini collection of “Stripped to my Truth”. The second installment will debut in December 2022.

You are also in the process of completing a documentary based on your journey. What can our readers expect and how would it differ from the book?
Your readers can expect a raw look at what healing looks like. I touched on subjects of my life that created the trauma I had to heal from. Situations that created the drama. So my documentary is what the clean up will look like. It won’t all be peaches & cream, but it’ll definitely be another journey and bumpy ride, for sure.
