Actress and filmmaker Joy Brunson announced that her social film club, Black Girls Cinema Club, will host its first official event next Saturday, July 12, at the LINE Hotel in Los Angeles.
The event will feature a screening of Naked Acts, a 1996 independent film written and directed by Bridgett M. Davis. Following the screening, Ayesha Harris, known for her role in The Pitt, will join for a community conversation.
Brunson, who shared the news via social media, described the gathering as a space to connect and engage through film. “Come through and fellowship with our community,” Brunson wrote.
Tickets for the event are donation-based and can be reserved online. The event is part of the Black Girls Cinema Club’s mission to spotlight films created by and about Black women.
More information and ticket access are available through the club’s official social media channels, @blackgirlscinemaclub.
