Diddy Acquitted of Racketeering and Sex Trafficking; Convicted on Prostitution Transportation Charges

A federal jury in Manhattan acquitted music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs on the gravest charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking on July 2, 2025, while convicting him on two counts of transporting individuals to engage in prostitution, court records show.

Combs, 55, was found guilty of transporting women across state lines for prostitution under the Mann Act. Each count carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, exposing him to up to 20 years behind bars. Jurors deliberated for roughly 13 hours before delivering the mixed verdict.

That conviction marks a partial win for prosecutors who sought to prove Combs operated a criminal enterprise involving coercion, drugs, and violence. However, the jury cleared Combs of the most serious allegations, including trafficking victims and running a racketeering ring—a resolution that spares him from the possibility of life in prison.

Central to the prosecution’s case were former partners Casandra “Cassie” Ventura and a woman identified as “Jane,” who testified about involuntary participation in “freak‑off” parties—drug‑fueled events described as facilitated by Combs. Ventura, in particular, detailed instances of physical and sexual abuse during their long-term relationship.

No defense witnesses were called. Combs’ attorneys maintained that all encounters were consensual and pointed to inconsistencies in testimony, suggesting financial motivations. Combs has remained detained since being arrested in September.

Sentencing has not been scheduled. Combs also faces several civil lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct, which he denies.
