Judge Grants Restraining Order to Halle Bailey Against Ex-Boyfriend DDG

A Los Angeles judge has granted a temporary restraining order to actor and singer Halle Bailey, who says her ex-boyfriend, rapper and YouTuber DDG, has subjected her to repeated violence and harassment, raising concerns for her safety and that of their 17-month-old son.

The order, issued Tuesday, requires DDG, whose legal name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., to stay away from Bailey, 25, and their son, Halo, until a hearing scheduled for June 6. The Associated Press first reported the court’s decision.

“Throughout our relationship, Daryl has been and continues to be physically, verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive towards me,” Bailey said in her court filing. “I am seeking orders to protect myself and our son, Halo, from his ongoing abuse.”

Bailey detailed multiple alleged incidents of violence dating back to before the couple’s 2023 breakup. In one incident described in the documents, she said Granberry slammed her face into a steering wheel during a confrontation in January, chipping her tooth. Photos of her injuries were included in the filing.

She also alleged that Granberry entered her home without permission in March, sent her a photo of her bed with a threatening message, and destroyed a security camera during a confrontation. Bailey said he took her phone and slammed a car door on her while she was holding their child.

A representative for Granberry did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Bailey also asked the court to bar Granberry from discussing her on his Twitch and YouTube platforms, accusing him of using his large online following to intimidate her.

“Whenever he wishes to cause upset, he starts bad-mouthing me to his several millions of fans,” she said. “As a result, I then receive threats and hate on social media.”

The judge ordered Granberry not to possess any weapons. The restraining order may be extended for up to five years following the June hearing.

Granberry, 27, from Pontiac, Michigan, gained prominence through video streaming before launching a music career. His fourth studio album, Blame the Chat, was released on May 5 by Epic Records.

Bailey, a six-time Grammy nominee, rose to fame as part of the duo Chloe x Halle. She later starred in the TV series Grown-ish and played the lead in Disney’s 2023 live-action The Little Mermaid.
