Amazon Prime Video Renews Reacher Spin-off Neagley for Season Two

The streaming service has renewed “Neagley,” starring Maria Sten as private investigator Frances Neagley, for a second season. The renewal comes about two weeks after all eight episodes of the first season premiered Sept. 16.

Amazon said “Neagley” reached 40 million viewers worldwide during its first 13 days, making it Prime Video’s fourth most-watched original series debut. More than half of the show’s audience came from outside the United States, with viewership reported in markets including the United Kingdom, Germany, and Brazil.

The series expands the world created around Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novels. Sten reprises the role that originated on “Reacher,” playing a former member of the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit who later becomes a private investigator in Chicago.

In the first season, Neagley investigates the suspicious death of a friend, sending her into a case that puts her investigative and combat skills to use. Alan Ritchson, who stars as Jack Reacher in the flagship series, appears as a guest star.

The cast also includes Greyston Holt as Detective Hudson Riley, Adeline Rudolph as Renee Birdwhistle, Jasper Jones as Keno, Matthew Del Negro as Pierce Woodrow, and Damon Herriman as Lawrence Cole.

Nick Santora and Nicholas Wootton created the series and serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Child, Don Granger, Sam Hill, Adam Higgs, and Lisa Kussner are also executive producers. The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios and Amazon MGM Studios.

Before the renewal announcement, Wootton said the creative team had already written and mapped out plans for a second season while awaiting approval from Prime Video.

The renewal comes as Amazon continues to invest in the broader “Reacher” franchise. “Reacher,” led by Ritchson, was recently renewed for a sixth season, while its fifth season is in production.

Prime Video has not announced a premiere date for Season 2 of “Neagley.” Season 1 is streaming now.
