Kanye West appears to have launched yet another campaign of public harassment. Previous targets have been celebrities and public figures including Kim Kardashian, Kid Cudi, and Pete Davidson.
This time the embattled artist has set his sights on Roxie Washington, the mother of George Floyd’s daughter, the man who was murdered on camera by former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin.
Shortly after the killing, West reportedly donated $2 million dollars toward his daughter’s education.
However in a recent Drink Champs interview, he publicated disputed the cause of Floyds, repeating a debunked allegation that Floyd died from fentanyl.
Following the interview, Washington filed a $250 million lawsuit against West for spreading the lie.
In a post on Instagram, Kanye West urged George Floyd’s other family members to encourage her not to take legal action, writing “Now Come get Roxie before she mess up all y’all money.”
Kay Harper Williams, an attorney representing the Floyd family, has stated, “Free speech rights do not include harassment, lies, misrepresentation, and the misappropriation of George Floyd’s legacy. Some words have consequences and Mr. West will be made to understand that.”
