Shortly after the release of her new video “Rumors” featuring Cardi B, pop star Lizzo was on the receiving end of several body-shaming and racist comments.

The full-figured singer took to Instagram Live to address the hate she received since the video dropped last Friday.

“People who have something mean to say about you, and for the most part it doesn’t hurt my feelings, I don’t care. I just think when I’m working this hard, my tolerance gets lower, my patience is lower. I’m more sensitive, and it gets to me.”

“It’s fatphobic, it’s racists, and it’s hurtful. What I won’t accept is y’all doing this to Black women over and over and over again, especially us big Black girls…”

Fortunately, several of Black entertainment’s biggest names including her collaborator Cardi B and actress/singer Chloe Bailey used their respective platforms to show Lizzo support.

“When you stand up for yourself they claim [you’re] problematic & sensitive. When you don’t they tear you apart until you crying like this. Whether you skinny, big, plastic, they going to always try to put their insecurities on you. Remember these are nerds looking at the popular table,” tweeted Cardi B.

Chloe wrote, ” “I’m so proud of you @lizzo people are gonna talk, but you have power in your voice. Thank you for inspiring me.”
