Martian Blueberry and TeamTO Debut Adult Animated Series “Junichiro Jackson”

Martian Blueberry co-founders Carl and Love Jones joined Paris-based studio TeamTO today to unveil their original adult animated series, “Junichiro Jackson,” at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

The project debuted during TeamTO’s “Come Fly with TeamTO” presentation at the Imperial Palace, where attendees viewed the teaser trailer and exclusive first-look footage. Jones, Love Jones, TeamTO’s Marco Balsamo, and Tara Sibel Demren also participated in a panel discussion about the series.

“Junichiro Jackson” is the first project from a broader partnership between Martian Blueberry and TeamTO.

Set in a near-future New York City, the 2D psychological thriller follows private investigator Junichiro Jackson as he uncovers a conspiracy that threatens the city while confronting his own inner demons. The anime-inspired series blends neo-noir mystery, action, and music-driven storytelling. It is planned as a 10-episode serialized production, with four scripts already completed.

“JJ is the kind of project that reminds us why we started Martian Blueberry in the first place,” said Carl Jones and Love Jones. “We love anime and music-driven worlds that exist outside the traditional boundaries of Hollywood.”

Balsamo and Demren said the series explores themes of identity, isolation, and disconnection in a fractured society.

Following its Annecy debut, “Junichiro Jackson” will make its North American premiere at Dream Con in Houston, where Martian Blueberry will present its “From Boondocks to Martian Blueberry” panel. Fans will also get an early look at the series and a live freestyle performance from Coast Contra, which is contributing original music to the project.
