The spokeswoman for the New York City Medical Examiner informed the public that Eric Garner’s death was the result of death by chokehold.
Though Garner’s health issues including hypertension, obesity, and asthma were contributing factors, the 43 year old man died from compression of the neck and compression of the chest.
In the viral video, Officer Daniel Pantaleo placed the chokehold on Garner in an attempt to arrest him for selling untaxed cigarettes.
Several officers were on the footage attempting to restrain Garner while he repeated that he had difficulty breathing.
Neither the cops or the EMS staff who arrived on the scene render any medical services on site.
