Congratulations to Deshauna Barber; our 2016 Miss USA.
Deshauna Barber is no ordinary Miss USA. Born into a military family, she spent most of her childhood moving to different places. At the age of 17 she followed in her father’s footsteps and joined the army. Currently Barber is an IT Analyst at the US Department of Congress and also a Logistics Commander.
Outside of the army, Barber is a graduate of Virginia State University, a historically black university. She was also one of seven black women in this year’s Miss USA. She made it to the top 10 with two other black women. Now she’ll represent the pageant for the next year.
