OWN Announces 17th Annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards

The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) is poised to exclusively broadcast the 17th Annual ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood® Awards on Friday, March 15 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

The event, held at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on Thursday, March 7th, shines a spotlight on the outstanding achievements of Black women in the film and television industry.

The 90-minute OWN telecast will feature the event’s festivities, including arrivals on the red carpet, and will also be accessible for streaming on Max.

Hosted by Cliff “Method Man” Smith, the ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood® Awards celebrates women who are leaving an indelible mark in film and television, highlighting their contributions to defining the Black woman’s role in Hollywood.

This year’s roster of honorees and pioneers in the entertainment industry includes Academy Award® nominated actress and Grammy Award® winner, Danielle Brooks, six-time Grammy® nominated singer and leading actress Halle Bailey, acclaimed screenwriter and showrunner of All American, All American: Homecoming and Found, Nkechi Okoro Carroll, and industry powerhouse and President of Original Programming for STARZ, Kathryn Busby.
