Recap: ASCAP Celebrated Black History Month with Four Rising R&B Acts

The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers, widely known as ASCAP, lauded Black History Month with a campaign featuring a series of weekly performances.

Emerging R&B stars including J Rome, Sha’Leah Nikole, Kadeem Nichols, and Moxie Knox each performed a tribute cover of a perfectly selected classic that continues to empower Black Americans throughout the years.

The four weekly performances were displayed on BET.com and are presently accessible on ASCAP’s YouTube channel.

“ASCAP is committed to recognizing Black artists and songwriters who have made an impact on our history and the world through their music and meaningful lyrics,” said Nicole George-Middleton, ASCAP Senior Vice President, Membership and Executive Director, The ASCAP Foundation. “This year, our goal was to spotlight emerging ASCAP artists by giving them a platform to showcase their talent, while also paying homage to the pioneers who created songs to uplift, inspire and empower all in celebration of Black History Month.”
