When you think of musical harmony what two groups come to mind? The female powerhouse vocalists of En Vogue and the soulful sounds of Boys II Men.
On Sunday evening, both groups took the stage at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) to a sold out audience.
First up was En Vogue who took the fans back down memory lane with their hits as well as singing songs from other powerhouse soulful artists. Do they still have what it takes to compete with the new talent that’s out now? Absolutely!
They even graced the audience with a performance of their new single, “Déjà Vu” as a thank you to the fans. The ladies informed everyone that they were finishing a new album and the crowd went wild. Terry Ellis stopped the show briefly to reflect on the violence and discrimination that is plaguing society today.
With that, she reminded everyone that in 1992 they wrote a song called, “Free Your Mind”. The performance rocked the house and left everyone on their feet.
After a brief intermission the crowd soon jumped to its feet to greet the men of Boys II Men.
They opened the show with a song off their current album “Collide” titled “Me Myself & I.” Soon after they jumped right into the ballads starting with “On Bended Knee” which had all the ladies swooning over the men.
In a surprise twist, Shawn Stockman and Nathan Morris each picked up guitars and the trio sang and played to what Shawn called, “songs not by Boys II Men”. Wanya Morris even graced the audience with some of his dance moves. Earlier this year he was a contestant on “Dancing with the Stars”.
In typical group fashion the men handed out roses to the ladies while serenading the audience to “I’ll Make Love To You.” The night ended with “End of The Road” and the crowd sang along.
The group never fails to amaze any audience member. In a group update, Shawn informed the fans that they finally received their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and have a Vegas Residency. Let’s just say this group is not slowing down for anyone. Afterwards, they had a meet and greet for the fans.
