The Roots and Live Nation Urban have teamed up, once again, to present the 11th annual Roots Picnic!
Taking place at Festival Pier in Philadelphia, PA on June 2, 2018, The Roots Picnic is an annual celebration of music, art, fashion, comedy, wellness and consciousness for an overall cultural experience that’s unmatched. Always raising the bar, The Roots have turned it up another notch for this year’s line-up of hosts, music artists and entertainment. The groundbreaking GRAMMY Award winning multiplatinum Hip Hop collective will headline with a special “Jam Session” hosted by Dave Chapelle!
Surprise guests are set to appear as well. As a long time friend of The Roots, this is actually the first time Chapelle joins them for their annual extravangza! And we expect nothing but laughs and unforgettable moments in music.
In addition to performances from Lil Uzi Vert, The Diplomats, 2 Chainz, Brandy and more, Black Thought will be bringing out Fabolous & Jadakiss for his “Live Mixtape” segment – which promises to be a display of pure lyrical fireworks! DJ Drama, who presents “Gangsta Grillz” will also have his own lineup of special guests.
Complimenting the music stages will also be a podcast stage, playing host to Drink Champs, On One w/ Angela Rye, Questlove Supreme and more. The Lifestyle Stage will host a Madden & NBA2K tournament, as well as a Fashion, Art and Hustle panel.
The festival is produced by The Roots founding members, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, and Tarik “Black Thought” Trotter, along with Shawn Gee (Roots manager & President of Live Nation urban.
