Tisha Campbell joined The Jennifer Hudson Show to reflect on her first meeting with comedian Finesse Mitchell and the unexpected start of her comedy career. Campbell said Mitchell made her “audition” before agreeing to let her join him on tour.
The two first crossed paths during a casual conversation about performing, which led Mitchell to challenge Campbell to prove her comedic chops on stage. She accepted.
During one of his shows, Campbell surprised audiences—and herself—by jumping into a set. The moment sparked a new path in comedy for the actress best known for her roles on Martin and My Wife and Kids.
Mitchell said he immediately saw her potential and was impressed by her timing and delivery. He said she “lit up the stage” and added that he knew right away she belonged in the comedy world.
