TT Torrez Breaks Silence on Madison Square Garden Altercation With Funk Flex

Former HOT 97 personality TT Torrez has accused longtime radio DJ Funk Flex of shoving her during a confrontation at Madison Square Garden, describing the incident as part of what her representatives say has been years of harassment, intimidation, and bullying.

The confrontation occurred Oct. 20 inside Madison Square Garden’s Delta Lounge before the New York Knicks’ season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers. Video from the encounter later circulated on social media.

In a statement released through her representatives, Torrez said the incident began with a verbal exchange between Flex and her husband before escalating.

“What was meant to be an enjoyable evening out for Mrs. Torrez and her husband became a deeply disturbing and traumatic experience,” the statement said. “A verbal exchange between her husband and Funk Flex escalated into a physical confrontation in which Funkmaster Flex shoved her violently.”

Her representatives said there was “no justification for a man to put his hands on a woman, under any circumstances.”

Torrez’s team also disputed the context surrounding video clips of the confrontation that spread online.

“The brief video circulating online does not tell the full story,” the statement said. “What the public saw was a husband defending his wife.”

According to Torrez’s representatives, the confrontation followed a longer dispute between the former HOT 97 colleagues. The statement alleges Torrez had endured years of harassment, intimidation, and bullying by Flex but chose to address those concerns privately and through legal channels rather than publicly.

Her representatives said that process resulted in a settlement with MediaCo’s HOT 97 and a nondisparagement agreement, which they allege Flex has continued to violate. The existence and terms of the reported settlement have not been independently verified.

“The events of October 20 were a painful continuation of what she has been dealing with privately,” the statement said.

Torrez’s representatives said she filed an online police report following the confrontation. No arrests or criminal charges connected to the incident had been publicly announced as of Wednesday.

The statement also thanked Madison Square Garden personnel for their response to the incident. Torrez’s team claimed Flex was removed from the building, although Madison Square Garden had not publicly confirmed that account.

Flex has offered a different version of the confrontation. In social media posts, he denied claims that Torrez’s husband punched him and accused the man, whom he identified as music executive Shadow Stokes, of throwing a drink and attempting to provoke him into a physical response that could lead to a financial settlement.

Flex also referenced what he described as an active legal case involving the couple and his company. Details of that dispute, and whether it is connected to the settlement described by Torrez’s representatives, remain unclear.

Torrez’s representatives said she does not plan to litigate the dispute through social media.

“Mrs. Torrez will not engage in online arguments, public theatrics, or any back-and-forth that distracts from the seriousness of what occurred,” the statement said. “She will continue to address this matter through her legal counsel.”

Torrez and Flex previously worked together at HOT 97. Torrez left the station in 2025 after serving in several roles, including vice president of artist and label relations and music director.

Her representatives said Torrez continues to support women who speak out about harassment, intimidation, bullying, and physical violence and requested privacy as the dispute moves through legal channels.
