The Washington Mystics improved to 2-0 on the season after defeating the Connecticut Sun 90-85 on Sunday.
Brittney Sykes led all scorers with 27 points to pace Washington. Rookie forward Kiki Iriafen contributed 17 points, and fellow first-year guard Sonia Citron added 15 in the victory.
Washington held off a late push from Connecticut, maintaining a narrow lead in the final minutes. The Mystics’ depth and balanced scoring helped secure the win on the road.
The Sun dropped to 1-1 on the season. Washington returns home for its next game Wednesday.
