iHeartMedia and Netflix announced Thursday that “The Breakfast Club” will begin streaming live on Netflix each weekday starting June 1, marking the streaming platform’s first daily live program.
The move expands the companies’ video podcast partnership announced in December and brings one of the nation’s most prominent radio morning shows to a global streaming audience in real time.
The program, co-hosted by Charlamagne tha God, will air simultaneously on Netflix and its traditional radio network. The show also features co-hosts DJ Envy and Jess Hilarious.
Under the arrangement, Netflix subscribers will receive an expanded viewing experience with bonus segments, behind-the-scenes footage, and extended conversations during commercial breaks carried on the radio broadcast. The enhanced format will result in nearly three hours of continuous programming each weekday.
“The Breakfast Club has always been at the center of culture, breaking artists, shaping conversations, and reflecting real life in real time,” said Bob Pittman, chairman and CEO of iHeartMedia. “Taking this show live every day to a global audience on Netflix is a powerful example of how we’re expanding the reach of our biggest brands while giving audiences entirely new ways to experience them.”
Charlamagne tha God said the show’s live format has helped sustain its influence in a changing media environment.
“The media landscape will always evolve, but one thing consistently cuts through: live programming,” he said. “We’re building something powerful—real-time conversation, real community, on a global scale.”
Netflix said the addition reflects its growing investment in live and creator-driven programming.
“The Breakfast Club has been a cultural staple for years, and we’re thrilled to make it our first daily live morning show on Netflix,” said Lauren Smith, Netflix vice president of content licensing and programming strategy.
The program originates from Power 105.1 in New York and will continue to air on more than 100 radio stations nationwide through Premiere Networks and the iHeartRadio app.
Since launching in 2010, “The Breakfast Club” has become a major platform for hip-hop, entertainment, and political conversation. Guests have included former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, former Vice President Kamala Harris, as well as artists and entertainers including Jay-Z, Cardi B, Kendrick Lamar, Kevin Hart, Snoop Dogg, and Will Smith.
Charlamagne tha God and “The Breakfast Club” were inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2020.
