A&R Report: Badd Newz

Badd Newz is one of the hottest artist emerging in the south. Alabama’s favorite son is taking his career to next level and the future is getting brighter every day.

You turned to sports at an early age to deal with some of the personal issues you faced, when did you decide to focus on music?
Yes, coming up in the streets, I always listen to music to get away from Life and the struggle. I started want to deal with music while I was watching Lil Boosie first DVD with my homie “Lil Jones”. My partner told me, “Bro you doing everything Boosie is doing now, taking care of people, helping others, just try to put it all in a rhyme,” and that is what I did. I started practicing my rhyme and looking for beats to murder.

How does the hip hop scene in Alabama differ from other southern regions like Atlanta and Miami?
Because we are like the underdogs in the Music Industry and we ain’t really had nobody to really make it, make it. So we are overlooked, when you hear about Alabama music. You instantly think about Country Music, not Hip Hop.

As a fan of No Limit and Cash Money, what was it about those movements that inspired you?
I was inspired on how they all came up together and stuck together like a brotherhood. Nobody was trying to outshine the next, they all were humble about their situation and all was patient in doing it together.

Tell us about your beat selection process.
I deal with my production based on how I am feeling at the time that I am ready to do my music; I want to send a shout out to my producer: York Hessner, Yates, Mikki Gunnz, SlikkWayne, Mr. RedSparks and 350 Beats for making dope beats for me to jump on.

Your debut album was well-received, what can fans expect from your forthcoming project?
My music is like a bottle wine, it gets better with time. I want to say, “Thank you to all my fans that rocking with me. My last debut album was awesome, had features with Pastor Troy, Smoke from Field Mob, Chino, Maria Verdell, Jali and my partner Price Tag. My record label also has a mixtape coming out in 2019; you can be looking for the LBE mixtape. New hits and mixed features .

Has being a responsible father helped your development as an artist? If so, in what ways?
Yes, my kids help make me the man that I have become, I see myself in them in so many ways and my kids are my Life. They are my inspiration and motivation. I do this for them; my success will be their legacy.

Do you have any advice for aspiring talent?
Consistency, keep grinding and get with a Label who believes in you. I want to thank Lil Boyz Entertainment #Lil Boyz Ent and CEO Terrance Little. Patience is the key to success. Find some mentors; I have Jeffrey Hunter and Rubin Wiggins to keep me straight in life. Keep making classic music and have a good and reliable promotion on your music.
