A&R Report: Introducing Rachel Cara

One listen to Rachel Cara’s new single “About You” and you will agree with two things. First, the song is simply amazing in both vocal performance and writing. Secondly, the Canadian singer/songwriter is someone from whom we should expect great things and she should be on every A&Rs scouting list.

When did you start performing?
I began performing about 7 years ago. I met a music promoter and opened for a few up and coming artists, but also Machine Gun Kelly. It was an epic experience. Lately I have been doing open mics all around Toronto, and have been getting great feedback and a lot of experience!

Name some artists who have inspired or influenced you.
Several artists that have inspired me I would say is: Beyonce,Alicia Keys, Adele, Rihanna, Amy Whinehouse, Whitney Houston and so many more. They stand for being strong independent women that have overcome major obstacles and followed their dreams. I relate to all of their stories a lot, and have been told I sound like a couple of them as well, which I take as a huge compliment.

How would you describe your style?
My style of music is R&B and pop. I love singing jazzy styles as well, and am constantly trying to learn how to make my sound unique and diverse. I believe that you should always learn and grow no matter if you have reached your goal already. Set another one!

What separates you from other artists?
What separates me from other artists is that my vibe and artistry is diverse. I’m not only a recording artist but an all-around entertainer. An artist who wants to have several hit songs on the Billboard charts simultaneously like Cardi B, but more. I’m also a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, and performer. I work hard to be great on each of those platforms and look forward to sharing my work with audiences around the world. My plans also include being an actor, music and media mogul, creating music for Film/TV and developing other artists.

Name major artists you’ve performed with.
I have opened for MGK, when I was about 15.

Do you have any major offers on the table?
I have a couple of important people and labels watching my every move right now… Follow @rachelcararecords on Instagram to stay updated.

What advice would you offer other aspiring artists?
I would tell other artists, be you and don’t change for anyone or any label if it comes to that. Work hard, practice your talent, and pursue what your heart wants. You want to love what you do every day.
