The NBA has suspended the 2019-2020 season until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In a statement issued tonight, the suspension will begin at the conclusion of tonight’s games.
“The NBA will use this hiatus to determine next steps moving forward…”
The statement was issued after Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive according to reports. The test result was reported shortly prior to the tip-off of tonight’s game between the Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder at Chesapeake Energy Arena. At that time, tonight’s game was canceled. The affected player was not in the arena.
At press time, there has been 1,275 cases with 37 confirmed deaths in the United States with 15 people recovering.
The CDC is advising people who are sick to stay at home, avoid public areas and avoid using public transportation.
