Editorial: There’s Something About Raiche

Raiche Burn Your Clothes

Every so often you come across an artist with the potential to change the game in a positive way. With the support of the masses, such an artist could restore the quintessential soulfulness that has for the most part eluded a whole generation of Black music.

Raiche is that kind of artist.

In the era of whispering singers who often rely heavily upon pitch correction and tech savvy producers, Raiche actually has the voice of an angel. It’s smooth and velvety with deeply rich tones that only complements her music. Music that the world should care about.

Whether she’s professing her love or establishing boundaries with translucent thinly veiled threats of violence, she sings with meaningful conviction which only amplifies the music’s messaging.

And it doesn’t hurt that she’s very much easy on the eyes.

Raiche has a natural beauty which is very hard to find on a scene where a great deal of our stars have been surgically enhanced (or better yet disfigured). She doesn’t rely on disproportionate measurements or hyper-sexuality to move her music. She allows the music the speak for itself while being herself, however she defines that.

If this is your first time hearing of Raiche, fortunately it’s not too late. Her artistry is readily available on all major streaming platforms. If you have already experienced her works, let’s do a better job and supporting her so she receives the attention she unquestionably deserves.

Better music makes for better people so let’s do better.
