In a highly anticipated boxing match, Gervonta Davis emerged as the victor, defeating Ryan Garcia in a thrilling showdown.
The fight, which took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, drew a huge crowd of 20,842 boxing enthusiasts who were eager to see the two young stars battle it out in the ring.
Davis closed out what many arguably consider to be the fight of the year, with a brutal left to the body in the seventh round that forced Garcia to take a knee.
Prior to the stoppage, the fight had been pretty much even though Garcia was beginning to take the lead after being knocked down in the second round.
In the post fight interview, he explained that despite his best efforts, he couldn’t recover from Davis’s body shot.
“I couldn’t breathe, explained the 24-year-old. “I was going to get back up, but I just couldn’t get up. … He just caught me with a good shot – I don’t want to make no excuses in here – … and I just couldn’t recover. … He caught me with a good body shot, snuck under me and caught me good.”
