Straight out of Charlotte N.C., talk show host Jasmine Byrd aka Jazzy B is tapping into the real vibes behind the world of talk show television with her live reality talk show “Vibin with Jazzy B”. Fresh from taping her second pilot show featuring Vh1’s Love and Hip-Hop Hollywood Micky Munday and Celebrity Psychic Bootz Tarot, Jazzy B and guest host Ohavia Phillips hosted over 100 audience members.

In the audience for the taping were International influencer Lynn Spirit, Atlanta personality Johnerio Scott, The Social Barber, Virginia’s personality I Love Diggs, The Rap Game’s Lil Richye, and Little Women Of LA, Keeshlinoo. From background singing with Trey Songz, Styling Lil Bow-Wow and hosting events for others, Jazzy B is finally in the executive producer’s chair. She’s calling all the shots in front and behind the scenes. She wants to bring us all every step of the way on her journey to the top.

Tell me about the premise of the show. The show “Vibin with Jazzy B” is literally what it sounds like. It’s me, Jazzy B just vibing with people. The show is 100% unscripted, it’s 100% raw and it’s a little churchy if you will. The reason I say that is because I grew up in church. You might not get something from the sermon that day, or you might not get something from the choir. I guarantee it’s going to be a deacon or deaconess that’s going to say something that’s going to hit you in your belly. So, in creating the show, I wanted to create something that people could legit walk away with a takeaway from one area of the show.

The show is no gossip, no scandal and it’s not just a talk show, it’s actually a reality TV daily talk show. I know you’re probably like what is that? Well, it’s about the show that I created. We don’t have talent booking agents and all these big Hollywood budgets. I’m literally a girl who didn’t start off with money and knew a lot of people. I literally started from scratch. I noticed when I watched different documentaries on how celebrities got from point A to point B. With everybody creating all these platforms where celebrity stories can be sold, nobody’s creating a platform where celebrity stories can be told. So “Vibin with Jazzy B” is that place now, it is the go-to place for celebrity good news.

So is it just for reality stars? No it’s not just for reality stars but the reason I call it reality-based is because it’s an actual reality show. If you watch the Wendy Williams show, you turn it on and get a talk show. But if you turn on “Vibin with Jazzy B” coming spring 2020 preferably on Netflix, you’ll see everything that it took to put the show together from behind scenes.

For instance, putting the show together the day before the show Micky Munday called and canceled on me literally like not even 24 hours in advance. It’s like 6 o’clock at night and he’s telling me he can’t come. At this point, I put money into the show. I’ve got sponsors. I have over 100 people coming. There’s no way you’re going to cancel on me. So now I’m hopping on the phone, I’m calling my team. We call everyone we can think to reach out to. I mean we call seven to ten other people just trying to fill in the spot at the last minute and all of that is filmed. Usually, on reality shows, you have people they have to script in The drama but they show there’s enough real-life drama that can make for a good TV for sure.

Give me a little more background on you personally where are you from. I was born in Fredericksburg but I’m actually from a town called Dunwoody Virginia. It’s a town that’s about 20 minutes south of Richmond. I was raised there after me and my siblings were taken away from my biological parents and raised by our grandparents which was a blessing in itself because people from where I’m from are usually just a statistic. The glory in my story is that I’m so far from being just a statistic.

That’s what I want the show to represent. You could be from anywhere, you could have lived a crazy life growing up, but you can still make it. My career in entertainment officially started for me though with an internship at Level 21 magazine. A friend referred me because she thought that I should be on television. I told her I’ve only thought about it my entire life and look at me now.

You mentioned the show preferably being on Netflix are you in talks with networks about picking up the show? So originally we had been and talks with BET and TVone. Those were the two networks we were really really pushing the show for, but the problem with the major networks is that you cannot keep creative control. That’s a big problem for me. I refuse because I know what I wanna put out to the world and I know my purpose. So with that being said, that’s when we started having conversations with Netflix and Roku and all of those types of streaming services. Netflix is looking very promising so we’ll just keep it at that. I definitely feel in 2020 we will be with Netflix

So what’s next for you?
Well, the next episode is going to be amazing because we will be dealing with mental health issues and talking to Kevin McCall about all of his drama with his baby mama Eva. We are going to delve into Kevin’s own abuse and what led him to other abusive relationships. I’m by no means condoning his behavior but when I pick people to talk to I always want to talk to people who I want to know more about. I want to pray for or get some type of deeper sense of understanding and he’s one of those people.

I will also have comedian MoNique on the show discussing her life and all the drama from her Oscar fallout to her current Netflix issues, so it’s gonna be a packed show. Also, on the horizon, I am in the process of putting together a show with Rocstar from Love and Hip Hop Hollywood called Rocstar Idol which we will launch during CIAA. He’s going to be bringing some of his Rockstar celebrity friends and we are going to be looking for the next big star so stay tuned for that coming in February.
