In this exclusive interview with Todd Tucker, the spotlight shifts from his high-profile marriage to Kandi Burruss to his latest endeavor, “The Pass.” Learn about his creative journey in this candid conversation.

Tell us more about your film The Pass.
The Pass is about a couple that introduces a hall pass into their relationship for twenty-four hours – no questions asked. Their lives spiral out of control. The thought of infidelity makes them wonder what went on. I don’t think too many relationships can handle a pass without being curious about what happened. They have a lot of questions, and they question each other and there is a horrible twist at the end.

What inspired you and your wife to produce the movie?
It was a project that I had come up with in 2018, and I slowly kept developing it throughout the years. I always talked about doing a movie for a long time and my wife was like, man, just do the damn movie already.

How does the movie transcend from a drama to a gripping thriller?
If you watch the movie, you’ll see that it’s not all about the pass- it’s the conversation starter. The twist at the end is what makes the movie a thriller. Without giving it away, it’s truly horrifying and it shouldn’t happen to anyone.

In what ways does this movie stand out from your other works?
My previous work has mostly been reality and I’ve been wanting to get into the movie space for a minute. It’s a scripted piece rather than regular reality.

Can you provide me with more information on what the audience can anticipate from the performances of the actors involved in the movie?
The acting is crazy we have Drew Sidora, Robert Riley, Erica Peeples, and of course my beautiful wife Kandi Burruss. We have a nice mix of dope actors and actresses who have done a lot of different things. My wife has a big following from Escape and Real Housewives of Atlanta. We have a lot of talented people.

Were you hesitant to use your home for the movie?
No, not at all. My budget was not that high, and I had to do what I had to do. I love what Tyler Perry has done, and I have followed his journey and what inspired me to use my house is that he had used his home in one of his films. Using your resources and what is in front of you, sometimes you think that you need more than what you have, but using what you have can be useful. I used my restaurants, my cars, my house, and anything that I thought that I could use, I used it.

During the intimate scenes, was it uncomfortable seeing Drew Sidora in your actual bed?
It was not uncomfortable seeing them in my bed. It’s like when you go to a hotel, someone was definitely intimate in that hotel bed before you got there. For me, once again, I had to remember that they were not actually being intimate. I purchased new sheets; I sprayed my mattress down with a lot of disinfectant spray. At the end of the day, I got what I needed out of it, and hopefully the movie becomes a big deal and when I make it to Tyler Perry’s level, and then I can say it was all worth it.

How was it working on the movie with your wife, Kandi Burrus?
It was great working with her. I think that we work well together, and we have mastered the understanding of our roles. I think she knows that I am spearheaded, so she lets me do my thing and then she assists me whenever I need help and vice versa. We are about to do another thing together; I don’t know if I am announcing it right now, but we are bringing the dungeon party back that we did a few years ago, and she’s kind of taking charge of that project and I play the supporting role in this one. We take turns leading and supporting roles.

Are there any future plans in the works for creating a sequel?
Yeah, the thing is when I created The Pass I at first didn’t want to create a sequel. I wanted to leave the audience hanging, but since I have received overwhelming feedback for part two. So now, I am racking my brain about how I can create another sequel. If I can make it good, I will do it, but if it’s not at the level where people need it, then I probably won’t, but we will see.

Where can our readers watch The Pass?
The Pass is streaming now on Peacock, and they are showing lots of love, so definitely check it out!
