J. Cole Schools Drops “Album of the Year” Freestyle

Rapper J. Cole has never been one to sit boastfully on the pedestal that his fans have laid out for him, but he knows his worth and he is willing to share is wisdom when the time is appropriate. With the release of this “Album of the Year” Freestyle that’s exactly what he did.

The track dropped on Tuesday night just two days before the kickoff of his KOD Tour.

Cole raps over Nas’s 2001 “Oochie Wally” track and he doesn’t take long before he begins schooling those in the rap game.

“The problem with this game is this week sea of rappers/I’m an answer on the low/I’m a cheat sheet for rappers,” spits Cole, who is known for producing platinum albums, but always comes short of receiving the appropriate awards for his work.

The 33-year-old poses the suggestion for rappers to expand their vocabulary, which might in turn help them to rap about more than the typical sex, money and drugs.

He even compares his flow to the late Notorious B.I.G., which is ironic because his counterpart Kendrick Lamar takes inspiration from the late Tupac Shakur.

Cole also dropped a visual for the freestyle, which in the beginning hints at a new album “The Off Season.”

Fans will have to only wait and see when the KOD Tour jumps off on Thursday in Miami.
