Mary J. Blige & Kendu Isaacs: Should Men Get Paid Spousal Support?

Mary-J-Blige

Do men deserve to get paid after a divorce? If you were married to a famous significant other that was also the breadwinner of the family, would you walk away empty handed after a divorce? If kids were involved, would you expect child support? Men that get divorced from celebrities have been walking away with enough spousal support to still live off of their exes. At least they’ve been trying.

Currently, Kendu Isaacs, who has been married to Mary J. Blige for 12 years, is trying to maintain a stable income off of her once their divorce is final. For years his financial income came from managing Mary J.’s career. His most notable achievement was getting her the Burger King chicken commercial song.

We all thought they would move on peacefully. However, Isaacs isn’t going away without a monthly payout. He’s requesting $130,000 a month in spousal support. It seems like a lot, but Isaacs could possibly walk away with some of that money. Here are some men that successfully received spousal support after break-ups.

In 2014 actress Tasha Smith had to pay her ex-husband Keith Douglas, whom she was married to for three years, $50,000 and $7,000 a month in spousal support. The payments lasted until the end of 2015 when a judge granted an annulment based on evidence that Keith Douglas was a fraud.

Actress Sherri Shephard was not as lucky as Tasha Smith. In 2014 Shephard divorced her ex-husband Lamar Sally. She also tried to claim their child that was conceived through surrogacy was not hers. After a long court battle, the judge ruled that she had to pay $4100 a month in child support.

While the previous numbers have been small, Madonna paid her ex-husband, Guy Richie, somewhere between $60 and $70 million after their divorce in 2008.
