The YouTube Channel ‘My Pingu TV,’ known for producing children’s cartoons, is facing major backlash after producing a 13-minute racist cartoon episode.
Entitled, “Dina and the Prince,” the video depicted an angel who is to hide her status from her husband, as she is not allowed to speak to him. When this is disobeyed, she loses her “beauty and youth” as she is punished by being turned into a black woman.
“Her glow is gone and her face is scarred” the narrator stated. She then cries to her husband and apologizes for losing her beauty. He is flattered, however, explaining his happiness over the angel giving up her beauty for him.
Since the angel has “sacrificed for her true love,” she is rewarded by being turned back into a white woman.
The video went viral soon after its release, causing Twitter to react. YouTube has now removed the offensive animation. My Pingu TV replaced the video with the new version above, issuing an apology.
