NIKE NYC’s NYvsNY: Girls Jamboree Recap

With the semi-finals coming up this week, Nike NYC’s NYvsNY hosted their Girls Jamboree at the Houston St. courts this past weekend.

The young ladies showed out for their respective teams as they looked to secure a spot in the semis. The Nike Court and the Jordan Court hosted back-to-back games in front of a packed-out crowd. To kick things off, Uptown Challenge took on Watson while West 4th battled it out with Lincoln Park.

Coming into the game, Uptown Challenge was looking to get their first win. Tipping off against Watson, it was a fight to the finish. While Watson kept up with their opponents’ pace for most of the game, Uptown Challenge’s speed and unwavering offense helped them get their first-ever NYvsNY win. They would move on to face off the winner of the Lincoln Park vs. Gersh Park matchup.

For Lincoln Park, redemption was on their minds as they went up against the defending champions, Gersh Park. Lincoln did not take the challenge lightly and kept their foot on the gas offensively throughout the game. Gersh Park, however, was doing Gersh Park things.

Known for their merciless defense and offense, Gersh Park would move on to face W4th later in the day.

Back on the Jordan Court, Watson’s Jordyn Jackson put on an offensive display in the team’s second match-up against Dykcman. This was their last chance to make it into Tuesday’s Semi-Finals! Unfortunately, Dyckman folded under the pressure, despite an attempt to get back into the game. It was a blowout win by Watson who moves on to face Gersh Park on Tuesday. Gersh would win also win their final match-up against W 4th, showing why they’re the defending champions. It was all gas and no brakes.
