NY Liberty: Consecutive Wins & 100-Point Games

A New York Liberty win at Barclays Center looked like it would be an impossible feat in the first half yesterday afternoon. The Dallas Wings came into the building looking to make a statement after Liberty’s astonishing win in Atlanta on Friday. Despite building a lead, things took a turn in the second half, favoring the home team. Exploding for 34 points in the third quarter alone, Liberty’s stars took matters into their own hands. The one-two punch that is Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionesco combined for 54 points. In just minutes, the Liberty turned a six-point halftime deficit into a 102-93 victory.

The victory marks the first time, in franchise history, that the Liberty has won consecutive 100-point games!

“We just tweaked some of our defensive coverages in the second half. Sometimes it’s just a little bit of focus, a little bit of togetherness, a little bit of toughness, and we showed that in the third quarter. And that’s great to have. Getting down, we have to be able to grind games out.” – Sandy Brondello, NY Liberty Head Coach
