Taylor Swift won Album of the Year for 1989 at the 58th Grammy Awards. In her acceptance speech, she said:
“I want to say to all the young women out there: there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success, or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame. But if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you … you’ll look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there, and that will be the greatest feeling in the world.”
This was in response to Kanye West’s new song “Famous” off of his new LP The Life of Pablo.
I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex
Why? I made that bitch famous (God damn)
I made that bitch famous
How did he make her famous? If anyone recalls, this all started at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards when her video “You Belong With Me” won for Best Female Video beating out the popular “Single Ladies” from Beyoncé. As she took the stage to accept her award, Kanye grabbed the mic from her and said,
“Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you and I’mma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!”
Many celebrities disapproved of his antics, even prompting President Obama to say this about the rapper, “He’s a jackass.”
The rapper claims that he got her approval to use the lines in his new song. Would she really approve such vicious words? Somebody is lying. According to her camp, he only asked her to release the song via Twitter and was advised that she was against releasing a song with “such a strong misogynistic message.” Yes, that sounds more like the 1989 songstress.
Back on February 12 before his album release party, Kanye took to Twitter in a series of tweets to discuss his decision.
I did not diss Taylor Swift and I’ve never dissed her…
First thing is I’m an artist and as an artist I will express how I feel with no censorship
2nd thing I asked my wife for her blessings and she was cool with it
3rd thing I called Taylor and had a hour long convo with her about the line and she thought it was funny and gave her blessings
4th Bitch is an endearing term in hip hop like the word Nigga
5th thing I’m not even gone take credit for the idea…it’s actually something Taylor came up with…
She was having dinner with one of our friends who’s name I will keep out of this and she told him I can’t be mad at Kanye because he made me famous! #FACTS
First thing, no woman is ever okay with being called a Bitch. Why is he continuously attacking this young woman? Kim Kardashian West approved the lyrics as well? Does she have beef with Taylor Swift? The fact that his wife was okay with it really confirms that we should all take mental health seriously. Who made who famous? She began her career at the age of 14 and was signed to Big Machine Records. Her debut album was in 2006 and her single, “Our Song” was number one on the Hot Country Songs chart making her the youngest person to write and perform a number one hit. She made herself famous by working hard and creating hits. Let’s take a look at her accolades.
