Review: G-Technology Armor ATD

Everyone who knows me can attest my affinity for gadgets. Whether it is a newly released phone, camera or any other electronic device, I love having the latest.

Working in so many facets of the entertainment industry, a portable hard drive isn’t optional, it’s mandatory. I was happy when I received G-Technology’s 4TB ArmorATD to review free of charge.

The ArmorATD is not just useful. It’s beautiful. But unlike most portable storage devices, it’s superbly durable.

Boasting triple-layer shock resistance, the drive has internal shock mounts, a durable aluminum enclosure, a protective rubber bumper. It can not only handle accidental drops (from 1.2 meters), but it’s crush resistant up to 1000 pounds. This is great when you are hopping in and out of vehicles more than a few times a day. The drive can also endure extreme conditions like rain, sandy beaches or the desert. You want to know your data is safe during the inevitable moments that shit happens.

Another benefit of the ArmorATD is that the drive is works with both OS and Windows based systems. While most recording studios use Apple products, it’s good to be flexible. You don’t want anything to stop your creativity.

While I hope there’s a solid state version of the ArmorATD coming in the near future, with transfer rates up to 140MB/s, G-Technology’s latest offering will more than meet your immediate needs.
